Pakistani forces carried out artillery attacks in eastern Afghanistan that killed civilians and damaged residential homes, according to Taliban officials and local media reports.

Hamdullah Fitrat said Pakistani military forces shelled a civilian house in Kamdesh district, where one person was killed and the house was completely burned.

Fitrat added that the attack was carried out by what he described as militias of Pakistan’s military regime.

Separately, Afghanistan’s TOLOnews reported that Pakistani forces launched mortar and artillery attacks on homes in the Afghan-Dubi area of Spera district in Khost province.

According to the report, two children were killed and two other people were wounded in the strikes. Several houses belonging to local residents were also destroyed.

The incidents come a day after Taliban authorities said Pakistani jet aircraft carried out airstrikes on a former drug treatment center in Arghistan district of Kandahar province. Officials said the facility was empty at the time and no casualties were reported.

On Friday, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said it has recorded at least 75 civilians killed and 193 injured across Afghanistan since 26 February as a result of ongoing armed clashes.
