According to Janan Saiq, the spokesperson for the State Ministry for Disaster Management Affairs under the control of Taliban, heavy rainfall and floods in the provinces of Kandahar, Nuristan, Badghis, Ghor, Nangarhar, Maidan Wardak, Herat, Samangan, Panjshir, Laghman, Kunar, Baghlan, Kunduz, Sar-e Pol, and Parwan have resulted in the loss of eight lives, while three others have been injured.

Abdullah Qureshi, who resides in Faryab Province, said that the recent floods have caused significant damage to houses in Pashtunkot District. According to him, the floods have intensified in the district, leading to the destruction of many homes and causing great losses to the locals.

“Here in Pashtunkot district of Faryab province, floods have increased and many people’s houses have been destroyed and many other losses have also been caused to the people.” added Abdullah.

Sher Ali, a resident of Marwara District in Kunar Province, said that the roads connecting this district to other districts are frequently closed due to heavy rain and floods. He stated that the roads in the province leading to other districts are also closed, causing significant damage.

“Prior to the rainfall, the soil was already eroded, but the floods and rains have made the situation even more difficult.” Sher Ali added.

Fatihullah Mohibzai, a resident of Shinwari district in Nangarhar province, stated in an interview with The Afghan Times that the ongoing rains and floods have forced people to seek emergency aid. He further added that the people who have been affected urgently need help from relevant institutions and organizations. The situation is dire as there is a serious threat to other houses near the river, and more heavy rains are expected.
