Rescue operations are ongoing at a 2,000-bed drug treatment center in Kabul after it was hit by a Pakistani military airstrike Monday evening, local media report.

Preliminary reports indicate that at least 250 civilians have been killed, with the toll likely to rise, and over 400 others injured. Emergency teams are still recovering victims from the debris.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, confirmed the attack, calling it a violation of Afghanistan’s airspace and describing it as a crime against humanity.

The targeted facility was a drug rehabilitation hospital where patients were undergoing treatment. Pakistani authorities have not yet commented on the incident.

The attack comes amid escalating tensions along the Afghanistan–Pakistan border, following previous cross-border artillery shelling in eastern provinces that damaged homes and killed civilians.

Rescue teams continue to work at the site, with firefighters and emergency responders battling fires and clearing debris to retrieve additional victims.
